The Gokak falls, a standing example of magnanimity, purity and unimaginable ferocity, in the literal sense, is a waterfall located on the Ghataprabha River in Karnataka. At a distance of 6 kms from Gokak taluka, from which it derives its name, this gigantic water body is one hell of a sight in monsoon.
Over the sand-stone cliff and amidst a picturesque gorge of the rugged valley, the Ghataprabha river takes a leap of about 52 meters. Approximately 170 odd feet tall and spreading more than three times its height, the Gokak falls could be a miniature version of the great Niagara falls of the North American continent.
One interesting fact about this place is that, monuments from the Chalukya era are still found in either bank of the rocky gorge.
All this could be witnessed standing right above this deadly, yet wonderful natural spectacle; thanks to a hanging bridge across the river. Come, join us in this super adventurous expedition and explore the raw side of Karnataka!
